I get some of my upcycled jackets from thrift stores such as goodwill and saver but you can also get clothing to upcycle from your very own closet.
Recently I cleaned out my closet to find things I no longer wear and want to donate. Before I donated the box I decided that I would go through it to see if there is anything I can upcycle. Maybe even just something I can cut apart and use the fabric from.
The first upcycled jacket I made was a jean jacket from my closet that I hadn't worn in at least a year.
You can even up-cycle jewlery. I was making some seashell earings and I didnt have any earing pieces to attach to the seashells. So I went through my earrings and look to see if there were any that I no longer wore and break apart for the parts. I ended up finding a pair I haven't worn in a while and I took off the charms and made some seashell earrings out of them. I kept the charms to use later.

It's amazing how many things in your closet or laying around your room could be used to make something new and fashionable.
